weekly Artist 7/27 -- Cheryl Pope

here is her website, although it doesn't seen to be up and running right now.
These saw Horses were at Robin Richman in Chicago and I got to spend a lot of time with them, petting then, hanging off them, carrying them around the store. They are so clever, and so so soft.

my toes are soo cold so I'm making a post about socks because I wish I had some.
These are Antipast socks, they wouldn't do much for warming my feet but they sure look nice!

knit wear

Stumbled upon the work of Sandra Blacklund. Amazing stuff.

I need to work on my knitting skills

ance duchamp

and while googling Clu, I found this lovely little thing.

I went to American Rag the other day to scope out their Complex Geometries collection. (they didn't have much)
But! I did find another line that caught my eye: Clu
I searched and searched the internet trying to find pieces that were as cute as the ones I saw in the store, these are as close as I could find, but I suggest you make a stop by American Rag. (and leave your wallet at home)

old painting

a painting I did in 2006 or 2007, that is so related to what I'm doing now.

a poster for graydn fall 2008 (with rips and tape not supposed to be there):

I don't know anything about Graydn, but I LOVE that pattern (and want that scarf)

I've been camping all weekend. Nature does not agree with me.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

I want to take a moment to explain a story I was imagining up earlier today.
It has to do with this drawing:

After a long night of partying with the squirrels and other forest creatures, bigfoot passes out in a bush somewhere. Im the morning he wakes up, groggy and very hungover, he feels a little queazy, and then throws up.

--the is where rainbows come from --

tea cup!

here is a poorly photoshopped photo of a tea cup (that doesn't hold water) that I made in ceramics!

oven mitts

I am making oven mitts, with animal paws embroidered on them.
This is the first one (wolf paw), it is dirty because it is loved (and used).

works in progress

feel like seeing some works in progress? I know you don't, no one is ever as excited about them as the artist is, because really, everything in progress just looks bad.
Except for the works in progress I am about to show you! they are really really exciting!!

The first image you are looking at is of a flower smoking a joint. The leaf is the only part that is near finished.

This is a ceramics piece I am making in class right now:

look familiar?

Tuesday Interview

On Tuesday I have a Job interview for a job that I am under-qualified and over-excited for. (a bad, usually heart breaking combination) It is at Phillipa Roberts, a Jewelry designer in Oakland. The interview is said to involve some sort of soldering test. Should I mention I have never soldered jewelry before? If it is just like soldering electronics and circuit boards than I am set, if not then I am screwed. Anyone know about soldering jewelry?

(remember Short Circuit?)

Weekly Artist 7/13 -- Misaki Kawai

All week I have been at a loss for things to post about and I have just been counting down the days until it is reasonable enough to make the weekly artist post. and now its sunday, witch is close enough, so here it is! this week: Misaki Kawai!
I am only really interested in her sculptures and insalations, she makes paintings too, they are pretty sweet, but not as much as these:

I fucking LOVE it.
visit her website here
and watch her on Art Talk here! (watch it, she is adorable)

Oh, What A Sad Day

In a fit of rage against Bank of America I closed all my accounts, then got home and realized I no longer have a way to pay for my netflix.
uhhhhggggg, so sad.

I have to quit one of my jobs today. It feels surprisingly like breaking up. It's not going to be fun. Granted its an un-paid internship and there was never really anything for me to do anyways, it will still stink. But oh will I be glad when its over.

4th of July

notice anything wrong with this flag cake that my mom made for 4th of July?

well, usually the american flag has red stripes and a blue square. this may have been okay if she was not born and raised here in the US.
